Ealing Inheritance

THE EALING INHERITANCE by Simon Messingham

A wicked farce, loosely inspired by the Ealing Comedies of the 1940s and 50s. Simon developed the script from his live comedy sketch show days when partnered with Alexander Kirk in the imaginatively named Kirk & Messingham.

What's it about?

Sisters Emma and Felicity live in genteel poverty in their Ealing terraced house, unchanged since the 1970s when they moved in from Africa. Their mother was a mad actress, their father an unhinged missionary, who never left the ‘dark continent’. Emma has grown into an angry, clumsy woman, Felicity a childish agoraphobic who lives in a fantasy world.

Their insular lives change forever when Emma announces her engagement to Mr Price, a mysterious Professor of Music. He arrives to stay the night before the wedding but, unknown to either sister, has knowledge of an inheritance that will make him rich forever. As long as no one finds out…

The Ealing Inheritance is a dark, hysterical farce. It's been staged a number of times but this is an audio version, even wilder and more intense.
