The Famous Girl

by Simon Messingham and Alexander Kirk

"Hello Children. Lady Cruella Lampard here to tell you another lovely story about what happens to children who get ideas above their station. Tonight's story is about Little Alice, who wanted to be Famous. Careful what you wish for..."

Many decades ago, back in the forgotten mists of ancient time, Simon co-wrote a TV series with Alexander Kirk, produced by Channel X for the BBC with the title: ‘Tales of Uplift and Moral Improvement’ and starred Rik Mayall as a 120-year-old Edwardian woman.

No one saw it and it was never repeated. You can watch an episode on YouTube here:
Tales of Uplift & Moral Improvement

After the event, Simon and Alex decided to write one more episode, never filmed, which has eventually become this audio comedy:
‘The Famous Girl’.
